Originally opened as a Homeopathic Hospital in 1899, St John’s was later owned by the Anglican Church and subsequently by MBF. St John’s was acquired by Calvary Health Care Tasmania in 2000 and has since seen major expansion and redevelopment.
Our motto “Changing Times, Lasting Values” is reflected in our mix of modern and heritage facilities, which enable us to provide the highest standards of health care.
Calvary St John’s has 98 beds, providing acute and sub-acute services to the people of Tasmania.
I-Med Radiology provides on-site CAT scanning.
Such a comprehensive array of tertiary services has the essential additional backup of hospital-employed medical officers (doctors). These experienced hospital medical officers are available to provide immediate emergency assistance in consultation with specialist doctors.
